How Does it Sew? :: Sew Liberated

I mentioned this on the Facebook Page a while ago, but this Summer I am going to do a series on sewing patterns.

Since I began sewing a few years ago, patterns scurrrrred me. It wasn’t until I began my job at the locally owned fabric store that I work at that I was able to get up enough courage to sew something from a pattern.

SO, this Summer I have deemed the Summer of sewing patterns!
And guess what? I have some fun giveaways (with designers!!), guest posts, and other cool stuff lined up all about sewing patterns!

At the end of the Summer, I want to have a sew along with you all & I’d love your suggestions for what we should sew together!

So, without further adieu, our first edition of How Does it Sew?

—-
A few weeks ago, Meg from Sew Liberated contacted me about a blog tour she wanted to do for her newest pattern, the Paloma Top, Tunic, & Dress.

I obliged because I simply love her patterns & the style she portrays!
(You can see here & here where I’ve raved about her Schoolhouse Tunic pattern.)
This pattern was different from most that I sew because it called to sew with knits. Scary, huh?
Not so much!
It was a fun project and I really loved the fabric I chose to make it out of! I made the dress version as you can see here:

I belted mine because flowy things don’t always look great on me… but I love the fullness of the dress. Its fun & flirty!

  1. I like the Aurelia Cardigan pattern from the Sew Liberated website!

I’ve been wanting to make a dress at some point, so maybe all your projects will motivate me. 🙂

  2. super cute as a dress! I have never been much of a pattern person but then I realized that if I followed the directions I could create much more complicated projects then I could on my own with out a pattern! Happy sewing!

  3. it’s hard for me to choose one because they are all just great! i would love to try the tunic pattern but have never done this before….

  4. I really like this Paloma pattern, but my favorite is the Schoolhouse Tunic – and I LOVE what you did with them.

  5. This paloma pattern looks great and very comfortable (especially helping hide my post-pregnancy belly). I also just received her growing up sew liberated book so I’m looking forward to sewing up some baby clothes for both my boy and baby girl.

  6. ooh, I think my fave is the tunic pattern. I have the pattern and fabric and just need to get busy one of these nights!

  7. Rock on with your modeling self! You do it very well! 🙂

Can I say that I’d like to make all three? The dress would be my first pick though.

So pleased to have been introduced to your blog! Thanks!
