Seattle Bound

Happy Monday, friends!!
I am so happy to share some pretty exciting news with you guys!
So a couple of weeks ago, I sent out a pretty vague tweet about an exciting email I had received & it probably had you wondering.. what the heck is she screaming about?
Well, today I get to tell you!
Lets back it up about 6 weeks.
About 6 weeks ago, I saw someone tweet about a Sewing TV show on PBS having a casting call. Not having any idea or any clue what it was/what it entailed/what I was doing.. I clicked on the link, answered a few general questions, sifted through my old DIYs, picked one, uploaded a sorry excuse of a headshot, and submitted my work. I have NEVER done anything like this. Never submitted my work for a contest, that is.
So, 6 weeks passed, I had completely forgot about submitting my Chevron + Ombre tote DIY, when I received an email from Ellen March, the host of Sew It All TV.
The email said I had been selected as one of the top five finalist to be on an episode of her show.
She said I needed to let her know my travel arrangements to the Puyallup Sewing and Stitchery Expo in Puyallup, WA within the week & then she would give me some more information.
SO, YOU GUYS… I am going to Washington on March 2nd to appear at the Coats & Clark charity event and present a 5 minute demo on my Chevron + Ombre tote. There will be four other bloggers demo-ing their tutorials & after the event, the audience will vote on their favorite two. Once they are chosen, the top two will go on an Internet vote and the winner will get to go be on an episode of Sew It All that will air next February.
As you can imagine, I am shocked.
Honored. And SO EXCITED.
If I am chosen by the audience as one of the top two… I’m going to be asking you guys for votes!!!
Thank you so much for supporting this little blog for the past three years. Your encouragement & loyalty has truly helped build my confidence + find my passion. I love each and every one of you and wouldn’t be able to have this opportunity if it weren’t for YOU!
On that note… I’ll be in Seattle for a couple of days and WOULD LOVE your suggestions on things to see, restaurants to eat at, etc. etc.
I’ve never been to that area of the country and I am SO EXCITED!

  1. You should have a blogger meet up! I’m just up in Vancouver, Canada (a couple hours north) but I’d totally drive down! Even if it’s just a restaurant dinner or something. So fun. THIS IS SO EXCITING BTW!!!!!!

  2. Congratulations! That is just sooo exciting! You definitely deserve it! 🙂

I live in Vancouver, BC, which is 2.5 hours away from Seattle. I went there for the first time this past summer for my 21st birthday and had a blast.

You should definitely check out the Pike Place Market! The first Starbucks is there (always a line up) but it’s worth the wait 🙂

  3. Congrats on this amazing opportunity! You should definitely check out Pike’s Place Market and the first Starbucks!

  4. Some one already said Do the Puyallup and it made me laugh! I am from Washington, a few hours north of there! Congrats and good luck!

  5. Yay! Congrats! Seattle is awesome (I work downtown). Definitely hit up Pike Place Market if you get a chance. The BEST restaurant, if you’re into Indian Food, is Gateway to India in Tacoma, which is about 20 minutes west of Puyallup. Have fun a good luck!
