Top Ten Sewing Essentials for a Stress-Free Sewing Experience

Recently I’ve been traveling back and forth between my office and my home (sewing machine + serger in hand) and sewing when I can snag just a few spare minutes. This makes knowing what my sewing essentials are especially important. I decided to make a list of the things that I literally cannot sew without and am sharing them with you today, yay!

This list isn’t all-inclusive and it doesn’t include the MAIN two ingredients: fabric + a sewing machine. If you’re wondering, I sew on a Janome Skyline S7 (and looooove it!), but if you’re just beginning your sewing journey, I’d recommend the Janome Magnolia 7330 – that little machine has been really good to me, too, over the past several years! And fabric? Well, if you’re anything like myself, you’ve probably been hoarding fabric since before you even owned a sewing machine… so, you’re probably covered in that area, but if not, you can see the collections I’ve designed for Art Gallery Fabrics and see if your favorite local shop carries them!Top Ten Sewing Essentials ||

It’s a really good idea to always keep these essentials on hand. You never know when you might need them, especially in the middle of the night trying to finish that project you started last week, amiright?

Wouldn’t this be an adorable gift for a new sewist? Whip up a cute patchwork basket (with the help of the Colorful Patchwork Bags +Baskets class on Craftsy, see this post to learn more!) and stuff it full of sewing essentials? I know I would have loved to receive this when I first started out!

What are some sewing essentials you can’t live without? I’d love to know!

Happy Sewing!
